Davis back with Lakers for 5 yrs., $190M

LOS ANGELES (AP) Anthony Davis finalized a five-year contract worth up to $190 million to return to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.

One day after LeBron James agreed to a two-year, $85 million contract extension with the Lakers through 2022-23, Davis committed to the Lakers through the 2024-25 season. Agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, who represents both Davis and James, confirmed the terms of both deals to The Associated Press.

General manager Rob Pelinka announced both of his All-NBA first-team superstars had agreed to new contracts Thursday night without disclosing their terms. James and Davis won an NBA championship in the first season of their partnership, and Los Angeles is back to work in training camp this week with a solid chance to repeat.


Silas confident Harden will be 'all in'

HOUSTON (AP) New Rockets coach Stephen Silas didn't talk a lot about James Harden and the rumors that he's unhappy in Houston on Thursday.

But he was clear about one thing - he expects Harden to be there when the Rockets open camp this weekend.


Porzingis expected to return in January

As much as Kristaps Porzingis wants to join the Dallas Mavericks for a pair of games in the national spotlight to start the season, Luka Doncic's European sidekick apparently will have to wait until the new year coming off knee surgery.

Porzingis didn't have the procedure to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee until October, more than a month after Dallas' first playoff appearance in four years ended in the first round inside the NBA bubble in Florida.


Rockets send Westbrook to Wiz for Wall

HOUSTON (AP) Russell Westbrook is headed to the Washington Wizards and John Wall is moving to the Houston Rockets in a significant swap of point guards - one an MVP, the other a No. 1 overall draft pick - just weeks before the season starts.

The Wizards shipped a future lottery-protected first round pick to the Rockets on Wednesday night.


Agent: Lakers extend James 2 years, $85M

LOS ANGELES (AP) LeBron James has agreed to a two-year, $85 million contract extension through the 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

James' agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, confirmed the deal Wednesday during the first week of training camp for the NBA champions. The Lakers are still finalizing their new contract with big man Anthony Davis, who is also represented by Paul.


Holiday feels wanted in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (AP) Jrue Holiday took notice along with the rest of the NBA when he discovered the substantial package of players and picks the Milwaukee Bucks sacrificed to acquire him.

The Bucks traded guards Eric Bledsoe and George Hill, first-round draft choice R.J. Hampton and two future first-round selections as part of a four-team swap that brought them Holiday. The Bucks gave the New Orleans Hornets the right to swap two future first-round picks as well in a deal that also brought second-round selection Sam Merrill to Milwaukee.


Nuggets, Millsap finalize 1-year deal

DENVER (AP) The Denver Nuggets have re-signed forward Paul Millsap to a one-year deal.

Millsap has spent the last three seasons in Denver, averaging 12.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and a steal in 159 games.


Nets-Warriors part of opening-night DH

NEW YORK (AP) Kevin Durant is scheduled to make his Brooklyn debut against his former Golden State teammates before the Lakers begin their title defense in an all-Los Angeles matchup with the Clippers in the NBA's Dec. 22 opening-night doubleheader.

The Lakers will be back in action against the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 25 as one of five games on the Christmas lineup.


NBA: 48 of 546 players test positive

NEW YORK (AP) The NBA said Wednesday that 48 players have tested positive for the coronavirus since testing resumed last week.

The league and National Basketball Players Association said 546 players were tested between Nov. 24-30 in the initial phase of testing after returning to team markets. That means about 9% of the tests were positive.


Pistons reach deal with LiAngelo Ball

DETROIT (AP) The Detroit Pistons have agreed to a non-guaranteed deal with LiAngelo Ball, according to a person with knowledge of the agreement.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday night because the deal had not been announced.
