After a weather delay to nearby lightning, James Jackson intercepted Erdely on the opening drive and gave the Bulldogs the ball at UAB's 32-yard line. Louisiana Tech's Kam McKnight ran on three consecutive plays, and the third resulted in a 5-yard touchdown for the early 7-0 lead.
Early in the second quarter, Erdely threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Ubosi to knot it. Spencer Brown ran for a 1-yard score with 7:18 left in the third, then sealed it with a 26-yard jaunt halfway through the fourth.
