EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) Christian Cunningham had 13 points to go with 15 rebounds as Jacksonville State held off Evansville 55-50 on Saturday to give the Aces their first home loss this season.
Trailing 53-50, Evansville had a chance to tie but Evan Kuhlman missed a wide-open 3-point attempt with three seconds left. Cunningham made two free throws to complete the scoring.
Jacksonville State (6-4) had won five consecutive games before falling to Wichita State 69-65 on Wednesday.
Hudson closed out the scoring in the first half when he drained a 3-pointer and opened the scoring in the second half with another trey for a 33-22 lead. Shea Feehan quickly answered Hudson's second-half 3 with a 3-pointer to start the Aces on an 18-5 run to take a 40-38 lead at the 11:38 mark. Hudson responded with a 3 and Burnell added another as the Gamecocks retook the lead one minute later.
John Hall and Feehan had 14 points apiece for the Aces (5-5).
